Some of the decision we make, sometimes, are pretty obvious. We decide to get up, get of bed, with the assumption that the floor will be there. Personally, I begin to think of what I need to accomplish that day and what would happen if I did not tend to certain things. These thoughts make me uncomfortable when I find no alternative course of action other than getting up and doing what needs to be done.

In the end, I get up, get dressed and begin to tend to the things I consider important. By this time, I have already engaged in using a decision-making model called rationalization. Rationalization is a decision making model process that helps individuals comes to a conclusion using logic and critical thinking. There are many different decision making model. Most of us go through this process on a daily basis without realizing it. Not too long ago, the staff realized that the financial situation of the station was not at its best. This was our first step: defining the problem.

The second step that we went through was to generate possible solutions but in order to generate possible solutions, we had a meeting and called on everyone’s attention regarding the financial status of the radio station. Our main focus was to figure out where the problem came from. Do I get out of bed today? Do I eat breakfast before leaving for work? What shall I eat for breakfast? Do I return to school?

Do I want to have any children? What career path do I want to pursue? Colorado College and incorporate my personal experience in how I chose to return to school to pursue a finance degree. In my particular case, I needed to expand the reach of my business from the general-public, to include some of the local corporations and small businesses. These are all very important questions that needed answering. Therefore, I had to look over all of the options for obtaining my degree in IT.

I had to weigh the available courses offered from each school to what I need to expand my business. The only way to do this was carefully lay out my options. Our school is located on one of the United States territory in the pacific called American Samoa. It is located on the rural side of the island far from town. 200 students who are all Samoans. Majority of students comes from the same village while some of the students travel far from other villages to attend our school. Our classes start from Kindergarten all the way to 8th grade.

For each grade levels they have 2 sections besides Kindergarten and 3rd grade. Majority of each grade level section consist of less than 20 students. The highest amount of students we would have in a classroom would be 22 to 24 students for the one-section levels. We do not have a diverse group of students but they all bring in to our learning environment their own way of learning. Our staff members consist of 17 regular education teachers, 6 special education teachers, 1 librarian, 1 computer lab teacher, 2 custodians, 3 cooks, 1 Principal and 1 Vice Principal.
